Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 6
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Season 6.
- 1-3. Smurfquest
Season 6 opens with the first multi-parter of the season that also introduces a new major character in the form of Grandpa Smurf. Grandpa Smurf is a character that even in the Smurfs universe, where everything is magically explained, makes zero sense and he was another completely unnecessary addition to prevent running out of ideas. However, this episode is pretty good. Obviously it’s a fun adventure having an hour-long story across the world with the Smurfs and there’s a lot of room for many characters and many different things to happen to make it an enjoyable watch, but I will have to point out some flaws. My biggest problem is obviously the absurdity that…
The remastered versions of 1981 cartoon episodes on streaming services
Has anyone ever noticed that on several streaming services like Rakuten TV and Pluto TV, there are remastered versions of every episode of the 1981 series that are available. Does that mean EVERY episode is available? Well, if you believed so, then you would be dead wrong. Here are some examples of episodes that I've noticed being missing from Pluto TV in my home country despite being available on DVD there:
- The Smurfs' Springtime Special
- Heavenly Smurfs
- My Smurfy Valentine
- The Incredible Shrinking Wizard
- Hopping Cough Smurfs
- Smurf On Wood
- Smurfing For Ghosts
- Smurfily Ever After
- Jokey's Cloak
- Snappy's Way
Has anyone else noticed more episodes missing? Please tell me below!
"Smurfs" (2025) film mini-review
Okay, I've seen it now, and I thought it was good. It's nothing like I had expected from the trailers. The live-action scenes are so minimal they are just like background. I like how they used an adapted version of Smurf: Rescue In Gargamel's Castle for the ColecoVision as one of the "dimensions" the Smurfs traveled through. Overall, I give it a total of 5 out of 5 Smurf hats.
New Smurfs episode on Nickelodeon starting tomorrow
July 7: We Smurfed on the Moon; July 8: Fire Brigade by Foot; July 9: The Prettiest Pebble in the World; July 9: Smurfalicious Cat Food
Finished "The Jeremiah School"
Hurray! Hallelujah! I have just finished completing my first original story, "The Jeremiah School". If you want to read the complete story, here is the link to that story:

Episodes where X doesn't appear category
I can understand creating "episodes where X doesn't appear" categories for main characters of the Smurfs series, but the Smurflings ARE NOT main characters -- they are supporting characters and thus SHOULD NOT have categories of that type that relate to them.
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 5
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Season 5.
- 1. The Smurflings
The episode that for many ruined the Smurfs show. The introduction of the Smurflings was absolutely unnecessary and they get far too much screentime from this point on. I was especially sad to see Nat de-age because I liked him as an adult, though he remains enjoyable. As for the episode, I’m not going to mention all the inconsistencies with the Smurflings de-aging and the idea that they can’t revert to adults, but there is also no solid plot, not many enjoyable moments – actually not much to watch this episode for. Might even be the worst season premiere.
Rating: 3/10

All this episode does is expand the Wartmongers culture, and since t…
Do Smurfs have organs?
While Smurfs are fictional characters and their anatomy is never explicitly detailed in the original comics or cartoons, there's a strong implication that they would have internal organs necessary for basic biological functions, even if highly simplified due to their small size.
Think of it this way: for them to eat, breathe, move, and think, they would need some form of digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, and a brain. While the specifics of "Smurf physiology" are purely speculative, some fan theories and discussions have even touched upon the idea of them having "highly efficient organs" to account for their diminutive stature.
However, when it comes to reproductive organs, particularly in the context of sexual reprodu…
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 4
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Season 4.
- 1. The Pussywillow Pixies
It’s a fairly solid season premiere, it’s great to see the setting of the story move to another environment and with all the new characters and their lives the story feels quite eventful. Clumsy is always fun to watch and though there is a lack of Smurfs, seeing new faces for the first time makes up for it. The legend about angry Smurfs is put to clever use as well.
Rating: 8/10
- 2. Gargamel’s Giant
A new Smurf in the village – Tuffy can be an obnoxious character but nevertheless he appears in four of the most fun episodes of this season. Starting off with Gargamel’s evil plan to create a giant to crush the Smurfs, which involves the subplot of Tuffy tr…
ChatGPT does the Bible in Smurf language
The Smurfy Shepherd (Psalm 23)
The Big Smurf is my shepherd, I smurf for nothing.
He makes me smurf in green meadows,
He leads me beside smurfy waters.
He smurfs my soul,
And guides me on the right smurf for His name’s sake.
Even when I smurf through the darkest valley,
I will fear no Gargamel, for You are with me.
Your smurfy staff and rod, they comfort me.
You smurf a feast before me in front of my enemies,
You smurf my head with oil, my cup smurfs over.
Surely smurfiness and love will follow me all my smurfy days,
And I will smurf in the house of the Big Smurf forever!
A Smurfy Plea for Forgiveness (Psalm 51)
Big Smurf, have smurfy mercy on me,
According to Your great smurfiness;
Smurf away my smurfy mistakes,
And wash me smurf-clean from my sins.

Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Johan & Peewit
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Johan & Peewit subseries.
- 1. The Cursed Country
A solid kick-off to the Johan & Peewit stories, it’s of course great to see more new characters for the first time and a new approach to the series. The episode was fairly entertaining, though it did loose me in the second half. It would be rated even higher if it was around 15 minutes long, but they had to make it 20 minutes to stick with the format.
Rating: 7/10
- 2. The Black Hellebore
It is not the most exciting episode, but it does introduce the characters of Princess Savina and Dame Barbara, as well as it marks the beginning of Peewit’s journey as a magician. Though it turns out rather boring, I personally don’t have a problem with Joha…
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 3
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Season 3.
- 1. Once in a Blue Moon
Season 3 kicks off hot with one of the best, if not the best episode of the entire 1980s Smurfs cartoon show. “Once in a Blue Moon” makes the best introduction to the series in the form of Baby Smurf, a great addition to the series. Though we did get to see the Smurfs taking care of Baby a little in Season 1’s “The Baby Smurf”, this episode does it much better by featuring all the main Smurf characters. As well as that, we also get a great episode for developing Grouchy’s character, as he shows his true loving nature while being alone with Baby, and even runs away with him to prevent the storks to take him back. It is a truly beautiful and touching epi…
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 2
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) – Here’s Season 2.
- 1. The Good, the Bad, and the Smurfy
The only season premiere that doesn’t introduce us to a new character (except for Tracker, but barely), but still a very good episode. I find the story similar to the “Sideshow Smurfs”, where some Smurfs are also captured by a stranger and taken away, and then the others organize a search party, except that this episode is so much better and well written. It feels like a Smurf story, it’s entertaining and doesn’t spend too much time focusing on the rescuers, while also being consistent with the number of Smurfs.
Rating: 9/10
- 2. Sister Smurf
It’s strange how in most episodes Smurfette is the centre of attention and here suddenly nobody cares …
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Season 1
Rewatching and reviewing Smurfs (1981 TV Series) - Here's Season 1.
- 1. The Smurfette
A solid pilot episode, but nothing special. I like how the Lone Smurf idea was added, but it doesn’t really get along with Smurfette’s character in this series. I liked the comic book ending better where Smurfette leaves the village to retain a good relationship between the other Smurfs because it truly is ridiculous how they fight for her attention, even characters like Vanity and Grouchy. Still, not a bad episode.
Rating: 7/10
- 2. The Smurf's Apprentice
I’d say it’s quite a disappointing adaptation considering that the comic wasn’t bad at all. I feel like they threw in too much unnecessary scenes and everything happened too fast, while it wasn’t even that ente…
The Smurfs versus the snorks
Which popular character is better?
The Smurfs, they are blue people that live in the village
The snarks they live in the ocean
The Smurfs villain is Garmel
The snores have some villains

Top 5 Clumsy Smurf episodes
Clumsy's best episodes. Also he shares many of them with Brainy since they often appear together as best friends.
5th place: The Clumsy Genie
Though Season 9 is considered a bit "unsmurfy", this episode might be worth checking out. Foolish Clumsy takes role of a genie in the lamp - just in the moment when genie is required the most.
4th place: The Smurfiest of Friends
This is one of the episodes focusing on relationship between Brainy and Clumsy, best friends in the series. It shows us what does real friendship mean, and the story itself is really touching.
3rd place: No Time for Smurfs
In this episode, Brainy, Handy, Clumsy and Smurfette are playing with their smurfball, but later start playing with time - and trying to fix it only makes it worse.…
"The Jeremiah School"
I'm thinking of creating a Christian version of the Harry Potter books called The Jeremiah School. In this series, young people with supernatural powers are given dreams that they are the Jeremiahs, the young prophets that have been called of God to be His army in the end times, and to that end they go to a school called the Jeremiah School, which is watched over by a headmaster who is the longest-living Jeremiah and probably the first to be called a Jeremiah, the founder Jeremiah Xavier. They have a school of prophets that oppose them, the Luciferian Academy, and over the course of the book (and probably the series) the two schools butt heads with each other, using their supernatural abilities against each other to fight for supremacy ove…
Top 5 Brainy Smurf Episodes
Brainy has got a lot of focus episodes - but these are the best among them.
5th place: The Smurfiest of Friends
This is one of the episodes focusing on relationship between Brainy and Clumsy, best friends in the series. It shows us what does real friendship mean, and the story itself is really touching.
4th place: No Time for Smurfs
In this episode, Brainy, Handy, Clumsy and Smurfette are playing with their smurfball, but later start playing with time - and trying to fix it only makes it worse.
3rd place: The Smurfic Games
I think this is the best cartoon show special, and the Smurfs' version of the Olympic Games is great, also it's great when Clumsy forms his own team and is actually competitive. Brainy again messes it all up, but he still appears…
Top 5 Smurfette Episodes
My list for Smurfette's best episodes in the 1981 TV Series.
5th place: The Mr. Smurf Contest
As every Smurf wants to take Smurfette to the dance, Sassette has a solution - Smurfette will decide herself after their performances. And Gargamel again becomes a Smurf, infiltrating The Mr. Smurf Contest.
4th place: My Smurfy Valentine
First of the two specials about Smurfette, with the debut of Chlorhydris in the show, as well as Cupid's first appearance. Smurfette searhes for a Prince Smurfing only to realize that she already has a full village of them.
3rd place: Squeaky
Smurfette saves a mouse, Squeaky, and takes him as a pet. But she learns about the death after Squeaky passes away, which stresses her so much, that she runs away before it happens to…
Top 5 Papa Smurf Episodes
I had time and created this list, I just want to know others' opinions and improve it. Later I might post that kind of list for other characters too.
5th place: Papa's Family Album
This is the episode in which Papa shows the Smurflings how he raised Brainy's generation, and it's quite entertaining to watch little Brainy saving his fellow Smurfs.
4th place: Papa's Wedding Day
Fearing that he's becoming old, Papa falls in love with Flowerbell, and soon ends up acting as young as all the others, while his obsession annoys other Smurfs. A remarkable episode with Papa playing the main role.
3rd place: Smurf on Wood
At first not so much about Papa, the episode runs into superstitious Smurfs believe that he's become a toad, and a superstitious wizard thin…
Paul Reubens passed away
Paul Reubens, the man behind Pee-Wee Herman and the voice of Jokey Smurf from the live-action Smurfs film series, has passed away recently.
It's about time!
Finally, the 2021 series is returning with more S2 episodes! But I'm still puzzled about why it was delayed for that long!
Off-topic: my journey with autism
May is Mental Health Month, and I just want to share that I have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, or ASD. It's a condition that I had since birth, only back then it wasn't called autism, it was called something else. I have been in special programs and residential schools throughout my entire life, and the experiences I had with them weren't entirely pleasant. I have written the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf series as an expression of what it's like to have ASD, only using telepathy as a substitute. I'm afraid to have children because they will most likely inherit my ASD in the womb, and I don't want to subject another life to the same experiences I had growing up with ASD. I don't plan on hiding the fact that I have ASD.
My Papa Smurf passed away
It's been a few months now, but I still miss the presence of my own father Roger L. George, who passed away in January 2023 at the age of 82. Strangely, I don't feel any grief or sorrow. I just felt that it was his time to leave this world, and I pray that it is with God.
Season 3
Questions on Season 3:
- During this season, will Brainy evolve from the talkative side to the positive side as in some episodes?
- Will Jokey and Clumsy be less present during season 3 after season two?
- Will there be some episodes where Willow and Papa Smurf will continue their series of disputes as in the three episodes of season 2?
- Would Grouchy be less present during this new season, because Jokey had fewer episodes in the second half of the second season, for Clumsy, he had had a lot in the previous two seasons, and Grouchy didn't?
- Can we see Homnibus again?
- Could Vanity sometimes stop saying bullshit about the colors of trucks, like in "Smurfs on Fire", where he did a not funny bullshit for me, because it's just a truck
- We could see the girls' …
The delay of more S2 episodes of the 2021 Smurfs series
Is there something going on with the delay of the series? I'm now losing patience! Anyone with info would be appreciated.

While I was watching Smurfs in Chinese, I noticed Babybus (The worst one) made an unofficial Smurfs song

Theory about smurfberries
I have a theory about why the Smurfs are more easygoing and friendly toward each other in the 1980s cartoon show and the live-action movies than they are in the comic books and the 2021 animated series: it is the presence of smurfberries. I think that smurfberries act as a natural anti-depressant, which results in their overall more laid-back behavior, and why they worry when Gargamel in "The Last Smurfberry" cuts off their natural supply of smurfberries from the forest, laying for them a trap by taking the last thriving smurfberry bush and surrounding it with a snake pit.
Opinion: "Me, I don't like..." Grouchy sucks
Am I the only person around here who thinks that the Papercutz comic book English translation of Grouchy's common catchphrase sucks? Personally, I don't like the literally translated "Me, I don't like..." because it sucks the grouchiness out of Grouchy's character when the more dynamic-equivalent version "I hate..." worked a whole lot better in English. This may be chalked up to a difference in cultures, but it still doesn't work as an English translation. In the 2021 cartoon show, it makes Grouchy sound rather robotic and less realisitically grouchy, like he's saying that to be politically correct than showing his real feelings in any situation that he even remotely passionately dislikes.
The Smurfs (2021 review)
UPDATE (12/7/2023): I soon realized that Johan and Peewit didn't come back in the second season. Also, I added in more details of the review that were left out, thanks to fans of the 1980s cartoon show.
This new version of The Smurfs is slightly better than the 1980s cartoon series, but only in animation quality. Chef and Greedy are separate characters once again, along with Clumsy and Dimwitty. Baby Smurf and Wild Smurf make surprise returns to the series, which is true since they had not been seen since the 1980s. Brainy Smurf is no longer as self centered and arrogant as you'd expect, and his ego has been downplayed (reverting to a bookworm Smurf). While Hanna-Barbera was instrumental in extreme character build-up and taking artistic libe…
The Lost City of Yore (Smurfs review)
This episode is one of the earliest examples of a random events plot and it is done poorly. Half of the plot is wasted on Nosey Smurf, who is a one dimensional obsessive busybody who has no respect for other's privacies and is all melodramatic when the Smurfs reprimand him. Also, he sounds far too recognizable to Frank Nelson (who does his voice). The Great Swamp Witches are no better themselves and keep talking about the Lost City of Yore to find a magic scepter, except they never achieve that goal. Gargamel and Azrael appear in the middle of the episode to visit the Witches, but they are distracted by the other Smurfs searching for Nosey, Brainy and Clumsy. Even after the three Smurfs get captured, Nosey keeps getting reprimanded for get…
Opinion: Is Nickelodeon killing The Smurfs?
I believe this is a fair question to ask, because there has been no new episodes in English on the channel for weeks, and there's no way to contact the network about the situation. It may be the network or a problem with the production team that's dubbing the episodes to English, but whatever, it doesn't help that Smurf fans are starving for new content that's in English, and the French already got a few dozen or so episodes released so far. Something has got to be done with the series, or else it may end up with the same fate that CBS handed to the 1990s The Flash series, being killed off for not having a single night to stick with for new episodes.

Revisiting the Live-Action Movie Universe: 10 Years Later
It's been ten years since the first Smurfs movie in the Live-Action Movie Universe has been universe, and since I have only seen that and The Smurfs 2 a few times since their releases, I saw those movies again recently and I'm still floored by the great (if not absolutely wonderful) job Sony Pictures Animation did in bringing the Smurfs to life. It wasn't like watching a live-action cartoon like other efforts in bringing cartoon characters to a live-action universe. It was like watching real people come to life. It was like everything I imagined the Smurfs to be if they actually existed in the real world. I also like how they interacted with the modern world in the few times they appeared in it through time travel, even with the cast chang…
Video feature review: "Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue"
I watched the special when it first aired in April of 1990, pretty much when the Smurfs were winding down as a Saturday morning phenomenon thanks to its "time-traveling" Season 9 episodes. It was a pretty bold idea at the time, to do a cartoon crossover special that was like Who Framed Roger Rabbit done with TV cartoon characters (well, mostly them...Looney Tunes were actually animated film feature characters). However, what they choose to team together to deal with is the controversial issue of drugs, since parents were concerned about their children picking up the drug habit from their own schoolmates and such. The Smurfs already had an episode dealing with a drug-like magical object that entranced its users called "Lure Of The Orb". But here…

Smurfs Season 2 episode reviews (minus Johan and Peewit)
Here's some brief reviews of the episodes that appeared in Season 2 of the Smurfs cartoon show, minus the Johan and Peewit episodes.
- 1. The Smurf Who Couldn't Say No
Interesting episode, but Papa Smurf came off as rather distant to Pushover instead of fatherly and sympathetic to his situation.
- 2. The Adventures Of Robin Smurf
Moderately entertaining.
- 3. S-Shivering S-Smurfs
Moderately entertaining.
- 4. Sister Smurf
Gets more interesting near the end when the Smurfs rescue Smurfette and Laura from the old hag.
- 5. Revenge Of The Smurfs
Moderately entertaining.
- 6. The Three Smurfketeers
Not as fun as the Robin Smurf episode.
- 7. Heavenly Smurfs
Moderately entertaining.
- 8. It Came From Outer Smurf
It's too bad we only get to see the alien visitor in this episode.
